Super Scientists 1

Faraday Statue London

Before we turned to writing, we both had technical careers and consequently have a soft spot for great scientists of the past. Today is the 223rd birthday of the English scientist Michael Faraday, who was born on 22 Sept 1791. He made breakthroughs in electromagnetism and electrochemistry, which laid the foundation for modern batteries, electric motors and even induction cooktops.

This statue is in the Victoria Embankment Gardens in London, outside the Institution for Engineering and Technology.
