The great 19th century naturalist Charles Darwin never visited the town of Darwin, which was named after him. But there are plenty of sites around the town that pay tribute to his travels and scientific achievements.

Charles Darwin National Park is right on Darwin’s doorstep and has plenty of interesting plants, including primitive cycads. The Beagle Ship Bell Chime in the city centre has a bust of Darwin, a model of the Beagle, and Australian birds that he admired.
