Hidden Sydney – Shipbuilding

One of the amazing things about Sydney is the large number of surprising details that you can stumble across. We lived there for 7 years in one of our previous existences, but still find new things on every visit.

A few days back we went for a walk from the Harbour Bridge to Wollstonecraft. In Lavender Bay there was this graphic reminder of the fact that there used to be lots of shipbuilding yards around the harbour. It’s the slipway of the Neptune Engineering Company, which was used to launch ships from the late 19th century through to 1989.
