Funiculi Funicula 2

We have seen quite a lot of funicular railways in our travels. There is something quirky about the way they travel steeply uphill.

This one is in the Italian hill town of Orvieto. It provides a connection between the mainline railway station in the plain below and the town above. There are two railcars connected by a cable, so they act as counterweights for each other.
