Everyone who goes to Rome wants to see St Peter’s. That’s understandable, but means that there is always a long line of people waiting to get inside. Of course, you can just look at the outside, with the sundial obelisk that we featured yesterday and all the monumental sculpture by Bernini. But then you miss the Michelangelo sculpture and all the interesting tombs inside. Fortunately, there is a way to visit St Peter’s without the crowds. More about that left-field alternative tomorrow.
