We’re not exactly boaties (Aussie for boating enthusiasts), but we do like picturesque harbours. This one is La Ciotat, on the French Mediterranean coast not far from Marseille.

As well as its sleepy looking harbour, La Ciotat is famous for being the place where both movies and boules were invented. You can read more about this little known town in our story “On Location in La Ciotat” – in the current issue of French Provincial magazine.
