Heavenly Spheres


We also found some interesting spheres in the Veronese exhibition at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) during our recent visit. The bronze instrument above is a 16th-17th century Italian celestial globe, supported by a sculpture of a man.

Nearby there are four paintings by Veronese, showing different navigational devices. On the right below, you can see “Allegory of Navigation with an Armillary Sphere” (1557).
