Bound for Botany Bay 3

While we were staying near Botany Bay recently, we also went to see the Sir Joseph Banks Pleasure Garden in Botany. It takes its name from the entertainment garden that used to be next to the Sir Joseph Banks Hotel in the 19th century.

Features in the garden include a statue of Banks looking closely at local flora with his magnifying glass, a mosaic map of his historic journey to Botany Bay with Captain Cook in 1770, and some animal statues as a reminder of the zoo that was part of the original pleasure garden.
