Standing Stones 4

We also saw this obelisk in Rome earlier this year, at the top of the Spanish Steps. It stands in front of the church of Trinita dei Monti, which was covered in scaffolding. The picture on the safety sheet shows what the church looks like. For comparison, here is a photo that we took on a previous visit to Rome.

The obelisk is actually a smaller scale Roman copy of the Egyptian obelisk in Piazza del Popolo, which we featured last week. It also looks quite striking from a few blocks away along via Sistina.
