You don’t have to go all the way to Rome to see interesting obelisks. These two are in central Sydney. The one above is in Macquarie Place. It was erected in 1818 and is the point from which road distances in New South Wales are measured. The impressive obelisk below is beside Hyde Park and is actually an air vent in disguise.
