Day and Night


Today is the Spring Equinox in Australia, when the north and south poles are equidistant from the sun, and day and night are roughly the same length.


Last month we noticed this mosaic at the entrance to the Metro Gold Line in Union Station, Los Angeles. It is titled “Solar Shift: San Bernardino and Santa Monica” and is by Roy Nicholson. It shows the position of the sun on the eastern (top) and western (above) horizons of LA at the equinox – and also at the solstices (below).
