Go Directly to Jail


We spent the past week in Albany, on the south coast of Western Australia. Along the way we did some time in various jails – not the functioning variety, but historic ones that have been turned into museums.


This one is Albany Convict Gaol, which was built by and for convicts in 1852. It served as a convict hiring depot, then a civil prison, and was even used as a storage shed before being turned into an interesting museum.
