Going to Great Lengths 2

image

We saw this 1m marble standard length in Paris last year. Sixteen of them were placed in Paris during 1796-7 under the National Convention, the revolutionary government. According to a nearby sign, there are just two of them left now. This is the only one which is still in its original location – in rue de Vaugirard, near the Senate.
