What a Piece of Work


Today is the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, the world’s favourite playwright. He died in London on 23 April 1616.


We have always liked this William Shakespeare Memorial in Sydney, between the State Library and the Royal Botanic Gardens. It shows Shakespeare with pen and paper on the top, and some of his most popular characters around the base – including his star-cross’d lovers, Romeo and Juliet (on the left below).
