Earlier this week we were travelling from Perth to Somewhere Else, and decided to stop off in Sydney for a day to break up the journey. The first place we visited was the Art Gallery of New South Wales, which currently has a very impressive exhibition by the Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho.
The artworks are in various different media, including textiles, comic book style zines, and cutouts. Most of them have a strong political message, despite the entertaining, upbeat impression produced by the bright colours and manga style graphics. The free exhibition runs through to next year and is definitely worth a visit.
