Head for the Hills

Perth is a rather flat place for hiking, since it stands on the Swan coastal plain. So last weekend we went to Kalamunda in the Perth Hills, to do a walk with more ups and downs.

The long distance Bibbulmun Track starts in Kalamunda and winds its 1000km way to Albany on the south coast of Western Australia. The track is marked with these little yellow Rainbow Serpent signs. We just walked a few kilometres down the hill to a small brook, had a picnic lunch, and then went back up the hill to Kalamunda. But that cured the Flat Perth Blues, for a while anyway.
