In the Chapel

Open House Perth was held last weekend, so many buildings were open to the public. This striking chapel was one of the open buildings and was conveniently located right next to the car show that we featured in the previous two blog entries – so we went to have a look.

The building is Wesley College Old Boys Memorial Chapel. It was constructed in 1960-1, using concrete ring beams, steel columns and jarrah wood for the gabled roof. It was all rather innovative for the period and was described as “a bold experiment” – but a successful one in our opinion.
