Crook Neck

We were walking past Mabel Talbot Lake in the Perth suburb of Jolimont recently, and noticed this Egret hunting in the shallows. It was so engrossed in waiting for a snack to swim past that it completely ignored us.

As well as being snowy white, these birds have an impressively crooked neck – rather like a coat hanger.
