In the Swing

The French physicist Leon Foucault died on 11 February 1868. His most famous achievement was the invention of the Foucault Pendulum – a device which demonstrates the rotation of the earth.

We have seen a number of Foucault Pendulums in our travels, including the one above in the Pantheon in Paris, and the one below at the Gravity Discovery Centre near Gingin in Western Australia.
