She’s Somewhere Else

We heard “She’s Not There” recently and were reminded that the 1960s pop group The Zombies (who sang the original version of the song) came from the English town of St Albans. We visited St Albans last September and enjoyed exploring the town, which had quite a lot interesting tourist sights.

The town has picturesque old streets and some nice pubs, including Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, which has two claims to fame. Not only is it reputed to be the oldest pub in England (originally built around 1400 and rebuilt after a flood in 1599), but it also thought that Oliver Cromwell stayed there overnight during the civil war.
