Towards the end of our one-day stopover in Sydney, we visited the Victorian era Strand Arcade. Built in 1891, the shop-lined arcade was looking especially colourful in the gathering dusk.
Unlike the northern end of Perth’s London Court, it’s hard to get a decent photo of the southern end, since it faces away from the sun and is generally in shadow. However when we walked past it late in the afternoon recently, we found that the sun swings around enough to light up the southern facade quite nicely. The ornate clock has moving figures of St George and the dragon.
